BTW, thousands of deer are going to be dying in the next couple of months and it ain't gonna be from CWD.

Yep.

Our property is probably an average 2 ft. deep in snow.

It'll be tough on pheasants, good for grouse, unless it develops a thick top layer.

That assumes Bonasa umbellus made it through the FIRST PART of winter when we had thickly crusted surface snow from the very wet snow events in January.

No need to worry about that.

West Nile has taken the grouse down. Fercripesakes!!  The drumming counts were down and they had to shorten the season!!

Please vote NO on #81.

QUESTION 81: Identification for non-motorized watercraft (140418) (requires legislation)
Presently, Wisconsin does not require identification for non-motorized watercraft such as canoes, kayaks and skiffs. There have been instances that a non-motorized watercraft is found floating in a lake/river or along a shoreline with no one in it, making it hard for law enforcement to locate the owner and determine if an accident has occurred. Searches have been conducted based on not being able to contact the owner of the watercraft, requiring time and effort from law enforcement and rescue personal, only to find out that no one
was in the watercraft prior to being found. Currently, owner identification is required for ice shanties and waterfowl blinds on state properties.
------------------------------------------------------
81. Would you favor legislation that would require the owner of a nonmotorized
watercraft to affix identification to the non-motorized
watercraft?
81. YES____ NO_____

That's a creatively worded excuse to charge us for registration.  Or in other words, one more tax. Thumbs down, here.

Another tax and where do they draw the line between watercraft and grandma with a cocktail soaking in an innertube?

Yeah, that...but I don't wanna think about grandma in an inner-tube...It's emotionally scaring.

I'm gonna go with the idea that they did.

Yeah, they didn't really do much to define what these watercraft are. SUPs, float tubes, pontoons, etc. aren't really specified - but I'd assume they'd need to be labeled, registered, whatever they're going for here.

The rationale for ice shantys and duck blinds requiring posting name and address is quite a bit different from watercraft registration.

I seemed to have missed #50.  Yes.  More stream buffer please.  Keep the cows out of the river.

Increase setback from fields to streams to 30 feet(530218)(requires legislation)Currently,  over 700 streams and rivers in Wisconsin are listed as impaired. A majority of this impairment is due to suspended solids (turbidity from soil loss) and nonpoint nutrient pollution (phosphorus impairments). Current setbacks can  be  as  little  as  5  feet  and  not  all  farmers  use  nutrient  management  plans.  Expecting  all  farmers to have nutrient management plans requires cost sharing. When funding is limited, plans often don’t happen.

50.Do  you  favor  the  Conservation  Congress  working  with  the  Natural  Resources  Board  and  the  state  Legislature  to  increase  the  distance  from  agricultural  fields  to  streams  and  rivers  to  30  feet,  and  encourage  vegetation?
