Bandalong Litter Trap for Streams and Rivers

Have they installed any of these traps on rivers or streams in Wisconsin??

www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ta6SLGGTQk

I've always wondered how many littering tickets are given every year in Wisconsin? Undecided

1.  Ingenious idea!
2.  Probably not many littering tickets given.  I think most litterbugs wait til no one is looking.
3.  It's a shame that we live in a world in which some of us have to pick up after the others.

Nice Idea- maybe start using them on the rivers around Milwaukee.

On the Blackfoot river in MT now they have bags they give rafters and fisherman to carry and drop off points for your trash that you pick-up drop a full bag off get a new empty bag to carry

Its an interesting idea. Urban waterways can be disaster areas. I was surprised at how much crap there was along the lower Gallatin in Belgrade.

This mesh bag was given to me by a Wisconsin TU old-timer some years ago.   It appears to be a 25-pound potato bag.  I've noticed it carries more Mountain Dew cans than does my fishing net.  Maybe some public-minded person or company could print up a bunch of them for distribution to anglers and paddlers, and get some free advertising.

The past three years on  Earth Day April 22 I have gone and collected garbage by the bridge going into Goose Island Park and filled a big trash bag.

This year if the old body allows I am going to collect trash from the wild portion of La Crosse's urban Pammel Creek (half wild and half cement).

Littering is stupid and selfish. But what really kills me is when you find a sofa, range, drier, etc. in a stream. How do people think it’s ok to dump things like this?   >:(

A couple years ago I cleaned up the litter at every landing along a popular U.P. stream.  There was a fair amount of it, but some of it was pretty old.  I also cleaned up the litter at a bridge crossing on another stream, and found a $5.00 bill under one bunch of it.

I spotted a washing machine by the bank of O'Neil Creek not far from my house this winter.

Too big for me to deal with by myself, I bugged the county until they went out and got it.

People make me scratch my head.

In Oneida County Wisconsin there are thousands of acres of industrial forest.  For decades this provided people with places to bird hunt, deer hunt, duck hunt, and in some cases fish.  People littered them up so badly, that I used to see rolls of carpeting in streams, old kitchen counters in the grouse woods, and major appliances along the roads.  The owners finally, and understandably, got sick of it.  Now they are all gated.  There are some great grouse covers that you would now have to walk miles to get to.  I wonder if the only answer is to increase everyone's taxes, and allow dumping at the County landfill for free.  I also wonder how many people dumped on the industrial land - I bet it was a very, very small portion of the population, and they ruined it for everyone.

I thought so.  I even wondered if someone put it there on purpose.
