State Supreme Court primary election Feb. 20th
Feb 12th, 2018 at 4:16pm

Voting citizens tend to focus their interest and energy on the BIG elections, i.e., President, Governor, Senator, and Congressperson.  Fine and dandy, but often-times the truly important elections are those involving other facets of our various tiers of government.  One such election is pending in Wisconsin, that being the primary election for Wisconsin State Supreme Court that will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 20th.  Too many people are oblivious to the fact that the courts rule on issues that affect all aspects of our lives, including environmental protection.  The Wisconsin State Supreme Court can deal with many issues impacting our environment, issues like the Public Trust Doctrine, for example.

Therefore, I would urge everyone who visits this site to get acquainted PRONTO with the three candidates who are seeking to be elected to the Wisconsin State Supreme Court.  The primary election will be held on Feb. 20th (next Tuesday), and the two candidates with the most votes will face-off in the general election on April 3rd.  Those candidates are (alphabetically):  Timothy Burns; Rebecca Dallet; and Michael Screnock.

Since voter participation in elections such as this one usually is - unfortunately - ABYSMAL, to put it mildly, each and every vote counts so much more than in other elections.  I strongly urge those on this Board to do their homework and then go vote next Tuesday AND in the April 3rd general election.  What remains of our environment depends on the active participation of voters who value our natural resources and who put a high priority on protecting and managing them for us and those who will follow us.

I'll get out and vote 20 FEB & 03 APR but in all honesty, does a vote actually
count anymore in this dippshittery cockup we used to know as a democracy?

Elections like these are, regardless of what you believe, the most important ones you can vote in.

Politicians are short term and lurch all over in search of popular opinions, and are most likely to vote to support the opinions of those that bought their seats.

Supreme Court elections shape our future.

One of the candidates has never been a Judge and has only had one case in a Wisconsin Court.

Tim Burns has never been a judge.  It's misleading to say that he's only had one case in a Wisconsin court.  Even it that is true, it doesn't mean he hasn't had courtroom experience.  He is a multi-state litigator in a large firm.

There is no one running named Parker.

Tannin, you do know that Grizzly was just throwing out an attractor pattern to see if anyone/who would bite.  Nice long drift Griz.

Also, from the other thread, you have a special sense of humor.

Burns is an insurance lawyer.  Appears to be the least qualified of all three.

Weather-wise, it looks like a bad day to be holding an election. Don't know if that will have an impact or not...

It will.

Gotta hope it rolls the way for folks that have a passion for the environment instead of the folks who have a passion for politics...

I've got AWD and a passion...and it's sure the heck not for politics...

Well I think that turned out just about as expected.  Hard to imagine Schrenock getting any of the Burns votes, but when you factor in what is likely to be a larger turnout come April it will likely be a nail-biter or close to it.

Burns has stated that he is not sure if he will endorse Dallet.  That could impact whether or not his supporters in the primary turn out in April.  Shades of Ralph Nader-ites!   Angry

I just got an email from Tim Burns endorsing Dallet, and asking me to join him in contributing to her campaign.
