Voting citizens tend to focus their interest and energy on the
BIG elections, i.e., President, Governor, Senator, and Congressperson. Fine and dandy, but often-times the truly important elections are those involving other facets of our various tiers of government. One such election is pending in Wisconsin, that being the
primary election for Wisconsin State Supreme Court that will be held on
Tuesday, Feb. 20th. Too many people are oblivious to the fact that the courts rule on issues that affect all aspects of our lives, including
environmental protection. The Wisconsin State Supreme Court can deal with many issues impacting our environment, issues like
the Public Trust Doctrine, for example.
Therefore, I would urge everyone who visits this site to get acquainted
PRONTO with the three candidates who are seeking to be elected to the Wisconsin State Supreme Court. The primary election will be held on
Feb. 20th (next Tuesday), and the two candidates with the most votes will face-off in the
general election on April 3rd. Those candidates are (alphabetically): Timothy Burns; Rebecca Dallet; and Michael Screnock.
Since voter participation in elections such as this one usually is - unfortunately -
ABYSMAL, to put it mildly, each and every vote counts so much more than in other elections. I strongly urge those on this Board to do their homework and then go vote next Tuesday AND in the
April 3rd general election. What remains of our environment depends on the active participation of voters who value our natural resources and who put a high priority on protecting and managing them for us and those who will follow us.
