Excellent piece.  I'm tired of people being called radicals because they believe in protecting the environment, having fair taxes, having a living minimum wage or any number of other issues of decency.  Those who would have been considered moderates 50 years ago, and still would be considered moderates in most nations have been demonized as radicals by industries that want to exploit.

Those people are moderates.  It doesn't matter what some people choose to call them.

Great piece. Unfortunately, it is dated 3/17/2015, do I have the incorrect date?

That is over 6 years ago, the progress that we have missed is truly worrisome. On top of that, the term radical is even more prevalent with very moderate views.

I am glad that the authors did not write the piece through political lenses, but it is very difficult for me not to draw clear conclusions in the current political climate.

Tight Lines

That's the correct date -- it's been circulating around recently on fly fishing social media sites, but it's not dated and is probably even more relevant.  Did we kick away opportunities the past 6 years?  Unfortunately, yeah...in spades.

Yes, 100%.

The GOP has done a tremendous job in tarring all non-conservative ideas as "radical." They did the same thing in the 30's when Social Security was created.  That anybody would label efforts to restore our environment as radical is mind-boggling, but that's the GOP for you.

Any time you see a drag on the progress of society or the environment, the finger points unerringly and undeniably to the Republican Party.

I always find that the side that opposes the move to improve our environment is always the one that says "We need to remove partisan politics from the discussion."

Nope, we need to recognize that those who oppose the rehabilitation of our environment all fall into a single category:  Republicans.

Not saying all Republicans are anti-environment (or all Democrats are pro-environment), but the working majority are, and the GOP party platforms always favor business over the environment.
