Weather: Sunny, 65 degrees, breezy
Water: clear
Hatches: few caddis, midges
Time: 1-6 pm
Comments: Made my first trip to the Willow for '99 and had good success nymphing with beadhead hare's ear and #16 soft hackle pheasant tail. Aside from a few caddis which the fish ignored, not much surface activity. Managed to land 10 browns, none over 10", but all beautiful and feisty. Despite the presence of a few other fishermen and the usual cattle, I was able to fish several hours without feeling crowded. This is truly a fun place to fish and can be really great during hopper time.
