Streamside Report

Willow River

St. Croix

3/19/98

Weather: Sunny, light breeze, air temp. 40 degrees F
Water: Slightly higher than normal, fairly clear but dark, temp. ? (I broke my thermometer)
Hatches: ?
Time: 4:45-6:30 p.m.

Comments: I ventured out for the third time during this early season with success again. I caught three browns; one being 12", the next 14" and the last one I caught was a football shaped brown measuring 18". Wow what a day for only fishing for a hour and 45 minutes. I also missed severl fish that surprised me at the end of my rod tip.

Last year during the early season I caught a 26" brown about 300 yrds down stream from where I was today. So far this is the largest trout I have ever caught!

Well I am ambarrassed to admit it and I am willling to change, but I am a spinner fisher person. I want to learn the science of flyfishing for I know it is a true sport.

Good Luck to you where ever you may venture.
