Streamside Report

West Branch of White Rive

Waushara

6/27/97

Weather: Hot, humid
Water: clear
Hatches: hexagenia limbata
Time: 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Comments: Went back to try my luck on the hex again on Saturday. Got to river early thinking I might catch a caddis or late sulphur hatch before dark - didn't happen. I did manage to "jump" the hatch and bring a few fish up on a parachute hex a half hour before I saw the first fly. There was a decent hatch of hex that started at 9:15 and went until almost 10:00. I caught lots of browns in that short time. Why do we always lose (or miss) the largest fish?! I heard and had a few rises that made me wonder if it was safe to be standing in the creek!!!

Hope to hit the hatch again next week.
