Comments: Fished in Two Rivers again this week. Lot's of people at Shoto (East Twin), so I skipped it and went to Mishicot (West Twin). Found fish on redds in the gravel again. Hooked 3, and lost all of them. Two that I hooked were bright hens and the wildest steelies I have ever had attached to the end of my line! They each jumped at least half a dozen times and ran off lots of line before I lost them. Many more fish observed, but they wouln't take anything I threw at them. Tried fishing for the last hour of light at the dam in Shoto but didn't catch anything there either.
On Friday my Dad and brother came to fish with me. We fished at Mishicot for the morning. Fish were once again on redds. It sure is nice to have days off during the week to avoid the crowds! Caught two hens in about 25 minutes while my dad and brother checked out the action at the dam. Nothing happening there so I had them fish the gravel with me. I then landed a 33 inch buck, my largest steelhead so far this spring. As the morning went on we each caught another hen. Four for me, six total - not bad. All of the fish were nice, too - none under 28 inches. Many more fish in the gravel, but as the morning wore on, there jaws closed and wouldn't open for anything we threw at them.
One of the hens that I caught had an orange DNR tag in her back. We ran into the DNR census taker in the parking lot when we were leaving and gave him the tag and the info on the fish. I am anxious to see what the DNR will send me regarding her history. Should be interesting, I'll post a report when I get a response.
