Comments: Got up at 5:30 a.m. this morning and headed out for the Tomorrow River. Have investigated several spots the past few weekends on this stream and am very impressed with its serene beauty and the quality of the fish. I must have walked about 6 - 7 miles of it looking for the "hot spots" and have stumbled onto some pretty good "holes."
I am new to flyfishing (still working on improving my cast), but as of late have had better luck with spinners, especially in the morning. My buddy caught two browns (both about 10 inches) on the first two casts when we arrived. I wasn't as lucky at first.
I did manage to hook, I'd guess about a 15 inch brown as I saw him jump out of the water, but lost him right away. Last weekend I had at least a 15 inch brown and got him up to my net and he managed to snap my line about 2 feet from where I was standing. I was a little upset, but I would've let him go anyway. My buddy and I found one hole that must have contained about 20 browns (I never saw so many fish in one place in my life (except in South Dakota). But, they wouldn't take anything. We saw a monster brown take off out of the pool. He was easily 20 inches.
We caught several other small trout (8 inches and smaller) along with some chubs. I am really developing a fondness and appreciation for this sport. Nothing quite like it.
We've only got a few days until the season closes. Best of luck to all
