Streamside Report

Tomorrow River

Portage

5/23/98

Weather: cloudy, windy, low 60's
Water: clear. low, 64F
Hatches: caddis, sulphur spinners
Time: 3:30 - 8:00

Comments: Fished the lower Tomorrow hoping to find some better mayfly hatches. Unfortunately, not much was coming off. I did catch a few browns, including one about 13" on a griffith's gnat and a soft hackle wet. Pulled out after a couple of hours and moved upstream, near HWY 10. Not much happening there either. A modest caddis hatch started. They were about a 16 and tan. I also saw clouds of spinners (sulphurs?) hanging above a few riffles. None were falling on the water though. Managed to take a few more trout on an elk hair caddis. Where are the mayflies?? The water is still quite low - we could use some rain.
