Tomorrow River

Portage

3/14/98

Weather: 28F, partly cloudy
Water: 42F, clear, good level
Hatches: none observed
Time: 3pm - 6pm

Comments: Fished the Tomorrow this afternoon for a few hours. It was quite cold, but at least I was out on the water. I fished nymphs for a while but never got a hit. Then I switched to a sinking tip and put on a picket pin. Caught two decent browns in about 15 minutes, but couldn't get a hit after that. The river was very pretty, and the snow adds to the scenery. Just a tip to all of you other early season anglers - to keep your guides from freezing up, dip your rod in the water frequently. The 40 + degree water melts ice quickly. If you keep this up the entire time you fish, it is possible to fish in a lot colder weather than you may think.
