Streamside Report

Timber Coulee

Vernon

9-8-97

Weather: Coudy, warm, light drizzle
Water: 60 F clear
Hatches: #24 blue wing olives
Time: 9am - 12pm

Comments: Although the air temp and humidity were not what we wanted for a hopper day we fished the hoppers anyway. trout were found under the lunker structures and at the head of plunge pools. A variety of hopper patterns were tried. By far the best was a variation of the madame X that used brown thin rubber legs, yellow body, brown hackle and sparse deerhair for the wing with a deerhair buttet head. Hackle is palmered. In two days of hopper fishing I C@R 16 trout on this pattern. Best fly size was a #10.
