Streamside Report

Timber Coulee

Vernon/Lacrosse

6/29/99

Weather: 80-85, sunny
Water: Great
Hatches: Tiny BWO and midges
Time: all day

Comments: Back from school to take a little break/get away and fish. Came back to fish the old stomping grounds and the fish was a good as ever. Fished on the Timber Coulee system and the West Fork of the Kickapoo for 3 days.

Today was the best day of fishing. landed about 15 fish, many pretty good sized for what have come to expect for these streams. Most fish landed on a tiny (#20-24) pheasant tail (or Turkey Tail Nymph) though some hit the scud that I had on the 2 fly set-up, my favorite way to fish tiny nymphs. Not a lot of surface activity though earlier in the morning, there were some fish rising that hit a #16 tan woodchuck caddis pretty well.
