Weather: sunny, high 40's,breezy
Water: clear
Hatches: gnats, some bwo
Time: 2-5 pm
Comments: Went out with my ace 15 yr old son for a much awaited trip to the coulees. Water was beautiful but the wind played havoc at times. Very sudden bwo hatch later in the afternoon lead to immediate surface activity with the fish being rather bold to repeated casts. My son took a lean 16" brown on a 16 bwo pattern in the flat water at the head of pool where most fish seemed to be holding. Fish seemed to want smaller flies in the 18 to 22 range although others reported luck with olive wooly buggers fished 1/4 down and across in the deeper pools. Absolutely gorgeous early spring weather with blissful, silent solitude. Let's treasure and respect these beautiful streams and the opportunity to fish them. Flies on the H2O!! The Doc.
