Comments: I fished down river from El Paso.

When I got there it was very calm and there was no wind. It was a classic western trout river picture with swift water, shallow, and more then crystal clear. It was my first time ever on the mighty Rush. Found a nice calm, shallow pool and saw some small fish feeding either on midges or BWO's around size 24. I first tried size 20 griffith gnat but had no luck. Then switched to a size 24 bwo and had instant succcess. Caught three small 6-7 inch browns that were very chunky for there size. Then the hatch stopped and it got to hard to cast dries accurately because of the wind.

Switched over to a size 16 beadhead prince nymph. every cast I had a strike.Caught another ten the same size as the browns. I had noticed an alright size fish feeding on the surface just upstream of the other ones during the hatch. I cast there and instantly I got him. It was a 14" brookie with the most colorful markings and fins I have ever seen. Even better then the ones that you see in magazines. He was also a very fat fish probably a little over a pound, which I'd say that's good for it's size.

Good fishing and tight lines!
