Root River

May 10, 1997

Weather: Sunny
Water-Conditions: high and murky
Hatches: na
Time: 9-11am

Comments: Hit the Root on Sat 5/10. Only had a couple hours to fish, from 9-11am. The water was high and murky. Started off with a egg-sucking leech, and nothing, switched to orange yarn fly, nothing, then put on black fly and on third cast a nice silvery 4 lb hen hammered it. In the span of a half hour I had landed one fish and lost 2 other significantly larger ones on the black fly. Just when the action was heating up I had to leave. Only saw five other guys fishing!!!!
