Root River

March 15 & 16, 1997

Went to the Root last weekend. Fished a total of a day and a half. Between 4 of us hooked 40 fish and landed 25.

For you whimp asses who couldn't brave the harsh conditions, we really did well. Balck flies, spawn, and yarn all worked but we mainly fished with our feathered fakes.

Biggest fish caught was a 33 1/2 in that my dad landed on sunday morning. This fish was around a 14 pounder. Personaly I landed one male that was around 13 pounds and 32'12 in long.

Had a very good weekend and the fishing is only going to get better. The best fishing took place above the weir and right below the weir. Fish are holding all over but I would consentrate above the weir in Colonial and Quarry park.

Good luck and have fun.
