Trout Tales
Overcast, dark, dripping wet but no rain. Incredibly quiet, still, like... just before a good storm. Locked my keys in the car..I knew it the moment the door closed...Damn! Walked from Shady Lane downstream to the houses on Prairie River Road and called my wife (she wasn't thrilled). Decided that I only had time to fish one stretch so I walked back up stream till I reached this spot and started to cast. #10 Dun Variant. The water was like ink and decided to present the fly just outside of the bubbleline. Biggest Brown in two years on the Prairie. Around 20" but didn't measure him. Took two quick pictures in the grass and released him. Took me 10 minutes to land him, and 20 minutes to revive him. That was the only fish I caught and didn't see another rise.
