Weather: Sunny, windy, hot midday, cooler at night
Water: Low and clear
Hatches: Lt. Cahills, a few Brown drakes and white midges
Time: Noon til dark
Comments: The Prairie really needs a good rain. The water is very low and quite warm. The midge hatch during the day had me frazzled for a bit til I got my nose down on the water(by accident) and figured out what was going on. Then a sparse hatch of brown mayflies with black wings started and I could finally throw a fly I could see! Picked up a few small Browns and some really nice Brookies. Had to hunt pretty hard for a stretch of stream without too many people in it. Odd for a Thursday but a sign of the times I guess. The Prairie is still producing fish, so good sportsmanship must be in place.
Toward dark the stream came alive with Lt. Cahills and the trout were quite selective. They would only hit a good match and I lost my last one to the brush around dark so I called it a night.
