Weather: Hot / Partly Cloudy 85F
Water: Clear/Warm
Hatches: Orange Butterflies
Time: 1:00 - 6:00
Comments: A buddy and I went trout fishing on the Prairie this afternoon. Fly fishing was not working very well, so we turned to spinners. We had a lot of luck catching fish...... chubs that is!
I know you guys will probably laugh at the hatch. I don't know much about the various flies/insects yet (just a beginner). There were hundreds of orange butterflies sunning themselves on rocks and logs out in the river.
I went wet wading in shorts and the water was plenty warm and produced a blood sucking leach. My buddy told me to wear waders, but I was much cooler and relaxed. And I would wet wade again anytime now.
TIGHT LINES!
