Comments: I fished the Prairie at the site of the old dells dam. The water was extremely high due to the recent rain. The water was wildly pounding down the gorge formed by the old pond. I was unable to fish the majority of the areas I wanted to due to the high flow. I did watch a rubber raft full of whitewater enthusiasts shoot the rapids about 4 times while I was fishing. To tell you the truth - that looked like more fun. I did catch some small brooks/browns on a royal wulff along the edges in slacker water. Once I got further upstream, I did find some areas that I was able to effectively nymph. Caught several more browns on a hare's ear bead head. I then tried the wide, flat water above the old mill site. Caught a few more fish by casting hoppers tight to the banks. The river sure is wide in this area...almost makes me wish I had a better double-haul!!
