Streamside Report

Prairie River

Lincoln

6-12/14-97

Weather: Warm during the day (78-82), very sunny, quickly falling temperatures at dusk, low humidity. chilly after dark!
Water: Water leverls are falling, moderately low but holding temperature well (63 at 7:00pm). About as clear as the Prairie gets (it is called "Nutrients").
Hatches: Brown Drakes every night. Spinner fall last night did not come down because of cool temperatures. Emergence is slowing down should be over in a day or two. Also over the water are A. Grannon, Grey Drakes (just a few left) and the beginning of the summer stones. Reports of the Hex starting up river.
Time: No need to get out early, 6:30 to 10:00pm is ok.

Comments: It has been a strange season. Very cold to start, everything compressed in just a couple of weeks, and it is over! The Hex is starting on the upper river, the summer stone flies are also just starting and then the Trico hatch... God! To live your life by a hatch chart is really NUTS! :-)
