Streamside Report

Plover

Eastern Marathon

6-6-99

Weather: Warm, humid, 80's
Water: slightly low
Hatches: brown drakes, small hex hatch
Time: 8-11 P.M.

Comments: Fished in the Hatley vicinity. Saw several dozen hexes in the air, even more on the water (spinners). Certainly not like usual, and definately not the big hatches that made the hexes so popular. My guess is that it will be an off-year again, with spotty hatches and little action. Several decent trout caught, 6-11 inch range. One big trout nailed a mouse or vole or something on the water, but too hard to cast to it, as it was safely secured under a tree. Oh well, gonna have to pull out the rapalas to catch the lunkers!
