Plover

Marathon

5/3/98

Weather: Clear
Water: Normal
Hatches: #18 -#20 mayflys
Time: 17:30

Comments: Had a chance to hit the Plover (above Hatley) Sunday eve. Very successfull using a #12 bead head hares ear. The only other pattern used was a hellgremite pattern. The bead head is what they wanted though. There were many people on the stream but most were using worms or spinners (not that there's anything wrong with that) but I think the fish were plenty educated to them.

Probably caught between 12-15 brookies in the 8-10 inch range and one brown. They must have started to fin clip the planters because I noticed fin clips on the pectoral fins. I have not seen this before in stream trout, only on steelhead. All in all a good evening.
