Weather: Sunny, 60's
Water: Clear
Hatches: #10-14 dark caddis
Time: 4:00-6:00 p.m
Comments: Fished the Plover near Hatley. At the public fishing grounds, lots of fish could be seen rising. A dark caddis hatch was on. I used a #12 deer hair caddis and caught nice 8.5" brook trout. Fished for 10 more minutes and quit. A guy downstream said he caught 15-20 and hooked half that. I drove upstream in my waders, which essentially wrecked my car seat w/ mud, and fished the "bend". Caught/hooked only chubs, but caddis were getting thicker as the sun went down. Watch out for the mud!! The water is definately lower because of no rain, and the drought is sucking the H20 out of the muck, turning it into cement. I went to my normal spot in the mud, but spent about 40 minutes trying to get out (instead of normal 2 minutes)! Today's rain (May 2), should re-generate the water a little (hopefully). See you on the river!
