Weather: Partly sunny, high 50's
Water: low, clear, 50-53 degrees
Hatches: Some caddis, possible Gray Drakes
Time: 10:30am-5:00pm
Comments: Weather was partly sunny, with light drizzle early in the morning. Temperatures were in the high 50's, low 60's, wind calm, but picking up in the late afternoon. The North Branch was low and clear, with water temperatures in the low 50's. No emergence seen with few small caddis and no rising fish. Later in the day, a good number of large (size 12) dark gray/black mayflies were seen hovering over the water--almost a prelude to a spinner fall. An initial guess was Hendricksons, but another, more "reliable source" thought them to be Gray Drakes. We didn't stay out late enough to see if there was, in fact, a spinner fall. Several fish caught were caught during the day, almost all Brook Trout, with most under 10". Conditions in the woods were very dry. But very wet in the cabin :-)
