Streamside Report

Mt. Vernon creek

Dane

August 28

Weather: 78 sunny
Water: 58 clear
Hatches: midges
Time: 9am-4pm

Comments: I walked down from the bridge at highway G and fished my way back up. Using mostly terrestrials(especially size 18 ants, and 16 beetles) I took about 15 fish ranging from 7-13 inches, and missed about the same number. There were some midges hatching, and a few fish feeding upon these, but they were more than eager to hit an ant pattern instead of the naturals on the water. I didn't see any larger sized fish, but was impressed with the numbers of fish I saw.

Has anybody fished the waters around New Glarus? I have heard rumors that there may be some decent streams there.
