Streamside Report

Mt. Vernon Creek

May 19, 1997

Weather: Mostly overcast, some thunderstorms and sun
Water Conditons: Clear, 54F
Hatches: Hendrickson (size 16-18), Blue Wing Olive
Time: 2:30pm

Comments: Had a great day. Got to the stream around 9:30...fish were taking something right below the surface. Was able to catch a few on a flashback pheasant tail micro nymph fished in the film, including a substantial 13-14" Brown that jumped quite a few times and had my reel singing for a short while...beautiful fish! Around 2:30 the Hendricksons were really coming off and fish were rising everywhere...caught 7-8 more 6-10" fish. Things slowed down quite a bit after 5:00 and we left around 6:30.
