Comments: Another great day on the Mighty Milwaukee, from an open sewer to primo Steelhead waters. Returned as usual to my favorite pools and was greeted by the presence of a dozen boys fishing up and down from me. All flyfishing with the exception of two lads flailling away with spinning gear.
Observed a number of lads still using floating line in the deeper pools, with the usual poor production. Guys and girls they are on or near the bottom. Red continues to be be my best producer. 15 minutes into my Sunday morning exercise, fish on, a nice 26" female. Slowly the other boys left the river as 12:00 noon and the Packer game approached. By noon I was alone and only I could bare witness to two additional steelhead by 12:45 pm.
I had discussions with other steelheaders who usually can produce fish, they stated they fished all Saturday afternoon without a single hookup. Our opinion is fish are moving in and out of these pools so don't be discouraged.
One last note to those spinners who may visit this site, us heavier line. The last steelhead I caught had a hook and 10 yards of 4lb test line wrapped around it.
