Milwaukee River

Milwaukee

12/06/98

Weather: CLOUDY/COLD
Water: COLD - DEEP
Hatches: NONE
Time: 8:00 AM- 1:00 PM

Comments: Fished the deeper pools this day. Weather in the 50's but overcast with a southwest wind. Steeelhead moving in to my farvorite spots on a regular basis. Fished consistently near the bottom at depths from 3' to 5'. Fly selection varied from black to salmon , but red was the color this day. The infamous #8 red blood fly worked best this day. Largest fish of the day was 30" with a set of triplets at 24" rounding the balance of the day. Temperatures in the 50's at 9:00 am, rain began at 10:00 and by 1:00 pm temperatures in the low 40's with moderately heavy rain. Steelhead seen rising in numerous areas once rain began. Best catch of the day was a 10 pounder that jumped 10 times. Not mine, but another lad's, just an amazing display. See you next time.
