Streamside Report

Milwaukee River

Milwaukee

11/22/98

Weather: Party Sunny, SW Wind
Water: Cloudy
Hatches: none
Time: Early Afternoon

Comments: Having lost faith in the Pack's effort early in the game, throwing a Spey or Stone Fly larve was the only answer to my frustration. Working the deeper pools south of the Estabrook dam to Capitol Drive, fortune would smile upon me . Using an extra fast sinking tip line, with a short 8lb leader, tipped with a #6 Spey fly, a sweet 26" Chromium colored Steelhead was my reward. It was the last one I saw for the rest of the afternoon. Salmon still languishing around. Water level greatly reduced from the prior week, down at least a foot. The level of water is to low.

It still amazes me to see people in the river trying to snag with spinning gear, while giving the appearance of spin casting. Give me a break!!! Where's a cop when you need one?
