Comments: Fished the Milwaukee for Chinook for the last week. Landed only 10% of fish hooked.. which is sort of normal. Salmon in their spawning colors varied rusts and umbers with dark grey to black. Caught five or six in the 38- 40 inch range. Several yarn fly hooks completely straightened out by the big ones. The biggest taken was a 47 inch male by a guy from Florida at Estabrook. All fish released. Later week turned into carnival atmosphere as the cast of "Deliverance" showed up at Estabrook and Kletch. Narrowly missed being hooked by flying Musky plugs, spoons, etc. Banks of Estabrook were full of litter. Lure containers, bubble wrap, beer cans, styrofoam worm containers, stripped line, etc. The sight of the environmental damage almost ruined my enjoyment of this treasure. Many people w/o licenses fishing with treble hooks and snagging fish 3 feet from shore. Same people were keeping fish and giving to crowd members. Called DNR to complain, but in fishing Tues through Saturday all day.. did not see one warden.
