Streamside Report

Melanchton Creek

Richland

3/20/99

Weather: Sunny/WINDY
Water: Clear, maybe a bit low
Hatches: None seen
Time: 10:00 to 01:30

Comments: Caught several small(7 to 8 inch) brookies and a 17 inch brown. Used a Pink Squirrel (beadheaded attractor nymph)Hard to cast with the wind so stiff. Good Practice! My wife's Springer (Tess) got her first swim for '99 chasing some mallards off a beaver pond. Saw an Bald eagle and a Redtailed hawk sailing around. A beautiful day on the stream.

For those who don't know, this creek is followed by Hwy 80 It starts a few miles southwest of Hillsboro and enters the Pine river at the junction of Hwy 80 and CTH C.
