Comments: Thanks to a very understanding wife I got some enjoyable hours on the Mecan. I started out on the upper end above Richford. That can be a fun piece of stream to fish but I like to use dry flies there and when the suns high the trout make them self scarce. If there were only more broken water there it would be a great place for dries. I was lucky enough to coax a few browns to the surface but that was it.
I moved to the lower Mecan about 4:30 and found that one of my favorite spots is very popular. I used soft hackles and some emerger patterns there until dusk. They fooled browns up to 12".
Another nice afternoon doing what I truely enjoy.
