Weather: windy,cool
Water: clear
Hatches: huge midges (#14)
Time: 7:00pm
Comments: Had the chance to fish lake emily (just northeast of ramdolph, wi) last night. Started at 5:30 PM and headed for the north shoreline out of the wind. Heavy weed growth 100 yards out from shore. Took a 12" largemouth on a popper and lost a couple more. Headed to the west shoreline just after 7:00PM and took a couple of more small bass. 7:30 headed to the southeast corner of the lake and found a nice shallow bay. Once you got inside the barrier weed bed. there were not as many weeds into the shallows (2' +/-). The bass were stacked in this bay. Long casts (50' to 70' required because of the clear water and spooky fish). Fished tan foam popper with weed guard made with Steve Winters foam cutters. There is a $2.00 fee to use the boat ramp, but it was well worth the two bucks.
