Weather: DRY, DRY, DRY!!!
Water: Very low and clear
Hatches: none
Time: 9/12 to 9/16
Comments: I just finished my initial fall survey of Door and Kewaunee County streams, looking for signs of fall run salmon and steelhead. The results are sad but true. All Door County streams are much too low at this time for any fish to even think about attempting to enter. Unless the fish grow legs and walk up the dry creek beds, don't expect to see any in Door County this fall. We need at least 5 to 7 inches of rain in less than a 24 hour period if we can expect to see any water or fish in our streams.
Kewaunee County is'nt any better. The Kewaunee River is very low, and clear. The very weak summer run of Skamania were found dead from the hot water conditions and low oxygen levels in August. The river is now very low and clear. Any fish that may attempt to c battle up the river with their backs out of the shallow water would most likely find themselves dieing from exhaustion by daybreak. The bottom line is that if we don't get some serious rainfall soon, we won't see a fall run of anything.
