Comments: fished Algoma tributaries and the kewaunee river on Saturday 4/5. The water is high and fast. Started the day north of Algoma on smaller streams and the water to high and fast to fish decently. Drove to the kewaunee river later in the morning. The kewaunee was nothing but a cespool of suckers. I've never seen so many suckers in my life. The ratio of suckers to steelhead is probably a billion to one. I did not see one steelhead caught in the 5 hours I fished at the kewauee. I talked to a DNR surveyor and he said that the hot spot was at shoto. A good number of steelhead we taken there. Sunday I drove down to the root. Landed 2 nice bucks one #8 and one #11. Lost five others. The action was very good on the root. Saw at least 20 landed throughout the day. The stream is loaded. Fished can be seen everywhere. It amazes me some of the fishing types that show up. Witnessed one guy walking up and down stream blatantly trying to snag fish. Fortunately he never landed one!
