Comments: Fished Kewaunee River Friday 4\25. A good number of steelhead still in the stream. Could see many spawning pairs in the shallows. The river is low and very clear, likewise the fish very spooky. The best place to fish is the faster water. Dont bother fishing to the spawning pairs, they got a job to do and not interested in feeding. Caught two fish, both females that were spawned out. Both were caught on a egg-sucking leech. This seems to be the hot pattern on the kewaunee. But patients is the rule this time of year. Presentation is key to catching fish. Watch the current and present fly in natural drift. I think some rain will pick up the action. Its nice to fish this time of year because the angling pressure is off. Lots of room to cast.
