Steelhead Report

Kewaunee River

April 18, 1997

Weather: Seasonal
Water Conditions: Some what Low & Clear
Hatches: None

Comments: Even though the water was lower than normal for this time of year, a fair number of steelies were in the river. Getting by the suckers to get a single drift was the biggest challenge. Between my partner and I we hooked 13 and landed 4. The fish were holding in the deep-fast runs. A little rain is sure to bring in more fish. The fish ladder had plenty of fish in it. The board said 1245 were sent up-stream as of the 16th and that Thursday would be the next spawn collection day. If I could get there, I'd be above the ladder on Friday!!

Good Luck!
