Steelhead Report

Kewaunee River

April 12, 1997

Weather: snow/cold
Water Conditions: Normal/clear
Hatches Observed: None
Date: 4/12/97

Comments: Saturday was the classic steelhead day with snow flying and temps in the low 30's, except the steelhead didnt think so. The suckers have moved out and the water is clear and at a normal level. I caught one and lost one and saw 3 fish caught all day. I was predominately using orange yarn flys. The conditions look good for fishing but I dont think the water is warm enouph for the "big" run to have started yet. A week of warm temps and a good rain should pick things up.
