Went down to the Kewaunee River the other day. The water is surprising clear for the amount of run-off; however the clay is still in suspension in the water. What does this mean. The water is a little murky. I have had some success working pink yarn flies and salmon egg patterns through the deeper pools. Other fisherman are having success with spawn sacs. I did see one fisherman catch a steelhead on a black wholly bugger pattern. Not many fish have gone up the egg collection ladder; therefore, there are not many fish above the dam. There are some fish in the river however. I looked through the egg collection observation window and their are fish in the ladder. However, most of these fish appeared to have been in the river for quite some time. With the recent warming trend, I expect fishing to pick up in the next week.
Hope I helped,
