Alleged snow here this weekend. 1-3" they say.

Not enough that I will bother clearing it.  Might be the 2nd winter in a row that I don't touch the shovel or snow blower.

I'd guess I have 4" right now.

Maybe another inch on the way.

You need to find a way to make snow removal fun!

...

No, not mine.  I don't have a cab, and my snowblower is yellow...but it'll launch a frozen turkey into the neighbor's yard.  Don't ask how I know that.

LOL!!!   Cheesy

Got about 2-3" here.  I "may" have to clear it. Thursday and Friday weather may clear it for me though.

Why would any trout fisherman want a repeat of 2024, especially the months of May and June? I like fishing Hendricksons a lot more than watching the River run through the playground and parking lots at the park.

Agreed, worse year weather-wise in my lifetime.  It was all about extremes (except snow and cold) -- hottest year on record, record precipitation from late March through August, record dry and hot autumn.

Good riddance to 2024, I hope there's never a repeat of that year.

We had a lot of excellent fishing in 2024, once we figured it out.

I don't say that to be contrary, but just to offer another perspective.  2024 was the best year for smallies and pike we've had in a while.

No worries, speaking from the perspective of a trout angler as George was.

I don't know...From the perspective of a trout angler, I thought 2024 was great as well. Nice warm temps early on, I caught a lot of fish and hit all the major hatches including the hendricksons.   Just had to move around a little bit when necessary due to weather. Driving to fish waters other than my home stream turned out be very productive.  If one place was a little flooded another wasn't and vice versa.

Took a new fly fisher under my wing last year and she did great and had a blast!

Warm up this week.  Looks like we might touch the 40s.  Should knock down the little bit of snow we have.

It's supposed make it to 43° here today.

We still need more snow.

The more, the better.

As I predicted back in December during the first round of subzero temps, people in my area are reporting frozen septic systems from the lack of snow cover and cold temps.  Should be an aromatic spring when the frost comes out of the ground.

Sounds like someone screwed up and didn't install the system deep enough.  If you install it deep enough below the frost line that doesn't happen.

I haven't had snowcover over my septic for 2 winters now and neither have my neighbors...None of us have had any issues because it was done correctly.

Enjoy the aroma during today's record breaking temps!!  Cheesy Grin

As I've pointed out several times before, there's a huge world outside of your tiny sphere.  Roll Eyes  I can tell you with confidence that it can't be summed up as "as someone screwed up", multiple residences are reporting their septic systems frozen in my area -- frost is being reported 5-6 feet deep over here and it's still only January, septic systems are designed with average snow cover taken into account, we don't get that dependable snow cover anymore and no one predicts -20 with zero snow on ground.

And last winter was a record warm one, so other than the lack of snow there's really not much comparison between this winter and last year.

There is a huge world outside my sphere.  However...you and I have similar weather patterns and temperatures and I have not heard of any septic problems over my way.

Who is reporting frost 5-6 ft deep?  The NWS isn't reporting anything that deep in MN.
