Would you use this for fly box?
Jul 6th, 2015 at 9:51am

Hello All,

Relatively new to fly fishing.  Always been more of an ice fishing guy but just love to be near water.

We started a fishing brand called Kenders Outdoors last year.  We've focused on tungsten ice fishing jigs but are looking to expand our product line.

We have a waterproof, floating, jig box that works great for ice fishing.  I'd like your input on whether this would be a good fly box?  What do you like/dislike about it?

We appreciate your reply!

Fly boxes exactly like that already exist.

Like Joe said, nothing new about the box. Also, I fish in the rain, so that box is a no-go for me. For those that don't fish in the rain, a waterproof box might sound logical. It ain't. A little water gets into the box and has no way of escaping, rusting hundreds of flies.

That box looks exactly like boxes from a few other places that just put their own stickers on them like you have. And, like Joe said  - these already exist from a variety of other manufacturers.

Want to make fly box history? A waterproof fly box that also breathes. Maybe a thin GoreTex skin over a stiff carbon latticework. C&F could sell them for $250 and get takers.

Would I use it?  Yeah, depending on price.  Probably drill some 1/8" holes to wick away moisture.

Wow.  I never looked at Alibaba before.  Now I am trying to figure out what I would do with 500 Simms Waders?  Now I know where they get all the Ebay stuff.
