Steelhead Report

Branch River

April 27, 1997

Weather: overcast,temp.40's
Water Conditons:: low&fairly clear
Hatches: Little black stoneflys
Time: 9:00 a.m.

Comments: Fished from 5:45a.m.-10:00a.m. As usual for this stretch of river I saw no other fisherman until approx. 9:45. In fact he helped me land a 28" steelie-hen,nice silver color. All the while I was fighting it or should I say it was fighting me, a buck of about 36" was swimming along side and around it, twice hitting my line. Must have wanted her bad. Caught her on a black wooly worm after trying numerous other flys on other fish with no success. Sure was nice fishing here again after fighting the crowd on the Kewaunee last Sat.
