Comments: I made my first trip to Black Earth creek this week, and I was very impressed to see the numbers of trout that I did. On the 14th, I started off at South Valley road, where I watched another fisherman land a scrappy 16 inch brown on a soft hackle. He reported a fairly heavy Caddis hatch earlier in the day, but I only saw a few. There were some fish rising to tiny BWO's, but I couldn't get them to take my imitation, so I fished mostly with a bead-head zugbug nymph #14. I caught 3 small browns in one hole, and broke off a good one. I caught a few others in fast stretches on a wooly worm. I drove to Black Earth, and decided to fish by the bridge in town. It didn't take me long to find the 7-10 inch rainbows which had been planted recently. I did catch a decent brown just up from the bridge on the wooly worm. All in all a good day.
The 15th was cold, windy and drizzly. No surface activity of any kind. Caught a couple of small rainbows, and spooked a fish of mammoth proportions walking back to the car. My knees are still shaking!! Hope to see some of you out there.
