Comments: Fishing was not easy with the fly today. Fished the public section in cross plains north and in Black earth. The sun made fishing difficult. I got frustrated with the longpole today so, yes I turned to the Spinning rod and a #3 silver panther marten. I figured the fish must be deep in the pools. I fished some of my most favorite holes first, (probably your's too). I hooked my largest fish on the creek. 17. 5 incher. I got a quick photo and got him back in the water. Not far down the way I hooked into my first brookie on the black earth. 11". I hooked and landed 3 more browns all 10" or better. not the best for 6 hours of fishing, but the landscape is better than those damn office walls. If the fly doesn't work, try one of those spining rods. It's how I got started, and if you have not tried it you'll find it quite a challenge and quite rewarding!!....it's not as easy as it looks! : )
