Comments: Fished Black earth from behind hardware store and upstream. Fish rising all over the place the whole time. Lots of splashy refusals and spooked a good number of fish. Cought 5 good ten to twelve in browns on ckickets (when I saw fish rising at edge) and elk hairs ( when I saw them rising in the middle). Switched from cricket to elk hair a lot in that four hour period.
Used 7 foot 2/3 weight rod with high "x" knottless leader and tippet. Short, light rod helped in the tight places and made for light presentations. Never saw so much activity (from the fish) on Black Earth before. Plus I was surprised I only encountered one other person and he was done fishing for the day and was on his way home.
******* Use light tackle, its a must on these little streams. I Found out the hard way.
