Streamside Report

Black Earth Creek

Dane

Early June

Weather: Prtly.Cloudy & Mild
Water: Clear to slight murk
Hatches: Hendricksons
Time: Noon to 4 p.m.

Comments: The Hendricksons and fish have both been very active this 1st week of June. Just a couple of hours of fishing the right patterns can produce 20 plus fish afternoons. Start out early with a P.T.nymph, swich to a Hendrickson emerger about mid-afternoon and then go dry when the fish are taking bugs off of the top. As many as 6 browns of 12 to 14 inches can be taken in very small pools and riffles. The action is very hot and may continue for another week. There are still plenty of Black Caddis hanging out in the stream-side brush and fish that are feeding close to shore can be taken on them. Don't be looking for Hex flies any to soon, however, there were some large, flying, black ants on the water the other evening which brought one handsome Brown of 18 inches to hand.
